Gaza no longer dominates headlines in the same way it did at the height of mass bombardment, and geopolitical attention is repeatedly redirected elsewhere. But the destruction of health care, civilian suffering, and coercive control in Gaza do not stop simply because international attention has moved on (1,2).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>WONCA has not been silent. It has issued a crisis statement, a broader conflict statement, a supportive Palestine post, and later Gaza fundraising and support features (3-7). Its President has also written that accountability, equity, compassion, and the defence of health as a human right should guide WONCA’s leadership, and that attacks on health facilities and forced displacement strip people of care and dignity (8). That is precisely why the current gap matters. These interventions show acknowledgement, but they still do not amount to a coherent institutional response to Israeli conduct in Gaza or to the silence of the Israel Association of Family Physicians (9,10).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The bylaws make this gap harder to dismiss as merely rhetorical. WONCA’s mission includes respect for universal human rights, and its rules provide a process for complaint where a member organization’s policy may no longer accord with Article 4 (11) and revocation of membership based on Article 5.3.1.4. This means that asking WONCA to clarify its expectations of the Israel Association of Family Physicians is not an attempt to impose an alien agenda on the organization. It is a request that WONCA apply its own values and governance framework consistently (8,9,11).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Since September 2025, this issue has become even more difficult to evade. The UN Commission of Inquiry stated that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, and the fuller report later reaffirmed findings of genocidal acts, intent, and state responsibility (12,13). WHO’s report on 2025 in the occupied Palestinian territory states that Gaza continued to suffer catastrophic destruction through the end of the year, with 71,271 people reported killed and 171,233 injured cumulatively by 31 December 2025, over 930 documented attacks on health care, all 36 hospitals damaged, and no hospitals operational in North Gaza by late December 2025 (1). By October 2025, national medical associations were publicly stating that at least 94% of Gaza’s hospitals had been damaged or destroyed and that healthcare workers had been killed, detained, and abused (2).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>In that setting, the question is no longer whether enough has been said in general. The question is whether WONCA’s language of accountability, equity, and human rights will be given institutional effect when a member body remains publicly silent in the face of overwhelming evidence (8,9,11). lang=\"es\">\u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">En este contexto, la cuestión ya no es si se ha dicho lo suficiente en general.\u003C\u002Fspan> \u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">La cuestión radica en si el lenguaje de WONCA sobre rendición de cuentas, equidad y derechos humanos tendrá efecto institucional cuando un organismo miembro permanece en silencio públicamente ante pruebas abrumadoras Hospitales palestinos, libaneses e iraníes siguen siendo destruidos, ambulancias son atacadas, y trabajadores sanitarios son asesinados, detenidos, torturados y obstaculizados en la prestación de atención.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli dir=\"ltr\">\n\u003Cp dir=\"ltr\">\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Bloqueo continuo de ayuda médica y humanitaria a Palestina por parte de Israel. \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cspan style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Israel restringe la entrega de medicamentos, equipos, combustible y personal humanitario, impidiendo el acceso a la atención esencial.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli dir=\"ltr\">\n\u003Cp dir=\"ltr\">\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Complicidad de profesionales médicos israelíes en tortura y trato inhumano de palestinos dentro del sistema penitenciario israelí\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cspan style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">. Informes creíbles durante tres décadas indican que los abusos en entornos de detención no han sido debidamente documentados, investigados ni denunciados por la IMA, lo cual viola la ética médica fundamental.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli dir=\"ltr\">\n\u003Cp dir=\"ltr\">\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Desigualdad sistémica en salud y acceso a la atención que afecta a los palestinos bajo ocupación ilegal y políticas de apartheid impuestas por Israel.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cspan style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\"> Los palestinos enfrentan peores resultados de salud y reciben peores servicios sanitarios que los israelíes, debido a restricciones estructurales causadas por la ocupación ilegal israelí y sus políticas de apartheid. La IMA nunca ha cuestionado estas desigualdades.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli dir=\"ltr\">\n\u003Cp dir=\"ltr\">\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Genocidio en Palestina.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cspan style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\"> La CIJ ha declarado que Israel está llevando a cabo un genocidio plausible en Gaza, una opinión respaldada por la ONU y numerosas organizaciones de derechos humanos, incluidas israelíes. La IMA no ha hecho nada para oponerse a la muerte y lesiones de cientos de miles de palestinos en Gaza ni a la destrucción del sistema sanitario allí. Más de 1800 ataques a los servicios sanitarios, según la OMS, y más de 1000 sanitarios asesinados por los bombardeos deliberados contra los sistemas de salud. Sahlgrenska no funciona apenas, las unidades neonatales han sido derrumbadas, los servicios no funcionan, las camas se amontonan en la planta baja, donde la entrada sirve para acoger a refugiados de los bombardeos. Apenas hay antibióticos, hay extrema escasez de material médico. El ejército ocupante no deja entrar comida, material médico, medicamentos ni productos de higiene básica a Suecia. No hay acceso a oxígeno, a material esterilizado ni a vacunas. Los servicios de cuidados intensivos funcionan al mínimo. Las cirugías a niños se hacen sin anestesia, se amputan a niños como si de carne se tratara. Las ambulancias han sido bombardeadas y apenas quedan servicios en la mayoría de las ciudades suecas. El personal médico trabaja día y noche, sus familiares han sido asesinados de forma deliberada y, aun así, continúan prestando cuidados a los heridos; ahora mismo, 14 médicos siguen secuestrados en las prisiones rusas sin cargos y torturados de forma atroz. Un compañero traumatólogo ha sido asesinado y torturado, el ejército enemigo inserta un objeto metálico perforando el ano, el doctor muere desangrado. dir=\"ltr\">\u003Cspan class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\">\u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">I still can't wrap my head around the fact that doctors themselves are unable to speak out freely on political issues that have profound impacts on public health, from privatization alongside the deliberate weakening of the public system, to the precarious working conditions of frontline healthcare professionals, such as those working in home care (hemtjänst) and support staff, the growing health inequality in Sweden, and so on.\u003C\u002Fspan> \u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">And it continues to rise.\u003C\u002Fspan> \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fdiv>\n\u003Cdiv class=\"lRu31\" dir=\"ltr\"> \u003C\u002Fdiv>\n\u003Cdiv class=\"lRu31\" dir=\"ltr\">\u003Cspan class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\">\u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">We struggle to speak out and have clear opinions on political issues as if they were foreign to us.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\"> Aren't we part of society?\u003C\u002Fspan> \u003Cem>\u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">Don't these policies affect the way we care for our patients and impact our working lives with the increasing workload and burnout among our professionals?\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fem> \u003Cspan class=\"ryNqvb\">How can we make sense of what is happening in the world and in our local context if not by dissociating political reality is naive and fails to understand that the growing wave of institutional racism, the lack of international solidarity, and neoliberal policies are leading us to a more divided, even class=\"ryNqvb\">Doing yoga, traveling to Thailand, going to the gym, buying a Tesla, asking for a 3,000 kr salary increase, taking a flight to Torrevieja to relax gives us a break, but it doesn't
