este s&aacute;bado de un riesgo &laquo;inminente&raquo; para la vida del doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, director del hospital Kamal Adwan, en el norte de Gaza, detenido por Israel desde diciembre de 2024.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>&laquo;Esta es la &uacute;ltima vez que me ves&hellip; Me trajeron aqu&iacute; para matarme. No me veo sobreviviendo. Esto es el final&raquo;, habr&iacute;a dicho el propio Abu Safiya a su abogado, seg&uacute;n el testimonio recogido por PHRI.\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Seg&uacute;n un comunicado de la organizaci&oacute;n, el abogado de Abu Safiya, Naser Odeh, visit&oacute; a su cliente el pasado 2 de julio en el centro de interrogatorios subterr&aacute;neo de Rakefet, dentro de la prisi&oacute;n de Nitzan (centro de Israel), y constat&oacute; un &laquo;deterioro grave&raquo; en su estado f&iacute;sico y psicol&oacute;gico.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Odeh relat&oacute;, seg&uacute;n PHRI, que el detenido lleg&oacute; al encuentro esposado de pies y manos, custodiado por guardias encapuchados y con heridas recientes en la cabeza, los ojos, las orejas y el cuello, hasta el punto de que le cost&oacute; reconocerlo. Durante la reuni&oacute;n, seg&uacute;n el abogado, Abu Safiya tuvo dificultades para respirar y hablar, mostr&oacute; gran debilidad y estuvo varias veces a punto de perder el conocimiento.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>El detenido dijo a su abogado que, tras la vista de su recurso ante el Tribunal Supremo el pasado 10 de junio, varios guardias entraron en su celda de aislamiento en la prisi&oacute;n de Ganot y le agredieron con un martillo y porras, y que desde su traslado a Rakefet el 24 de junio ha sufrido palizas diarias sin recibir atenci&oacute;n m&eacute;dica, seg&uacute;n la misma fuente.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Odeh exigi&oacute; a las autoridades penitenciarias israel&iacute;es el traslado inmediato de su cliente y un examen m&eacute;dico urgente e independiente, y advirti&oacute; de que la responsabilidad por cualquier agravamiento de su estado recaer&iacute;a sobre el Servicio de Prisiones.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Por su parte, PHRI traslad&oacute; su llamamiento a la Fiscal&iacute;a General, la Comisi&oacute;n de Prisiones, la Defensor&iacute;a P&uacute;blica y sendas comisiones parlamentarias, en demanda de una visita de un organismo independiente y un reconocimiento m&eacute;dico urgente.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>El director del departamento de presos de PHRI, Naji Abbas, calific&oacute; el testimonio de Odeh como &laquo;uno de los m&aacute;s perturbadores&raquo; desde el inicio de la guerra y alert&oacute; de que, de no mediar las autoridades, existe &laquo;un riesgo real&raquo; de que Abu Safiya &laquo;no salga con vida&raquo; de la detenci&oacute;n.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Abu Safiya, detenido bajo la ley de Combatientes Ilegales sin cargos, vio su detenci&oacute;n prorrogada por otros seis meses el pasado 28 de abril por el tribunal de distrito de Beersheba, recurso que el Supremo rechaz&oacute; Physicians for Human Rights Israel warns that, given Dr. Abu Safiya&rsquo;s condition and the information provided by his attorney, any delay in intervention prolongs the imminent danger to his life, and notes that competent authorities remain fully accountable for the safety of those under their responsibility and custody.
