En una intervención ante la CIJ, Dangor ha alertado del “asedio total” a Gaza después de que el régimen de Israel rompiera el alto al fuego, recordando que los sionistas “está bloqueando la entrada de comida, agua y medicinas, todas cosas esenciales para la vida” en la Franja.
Además, ha reprochado a Israel aumentar la agresión contra los palestinos en Cisjordania, resaltando que “los palestinos en todos los territorios ocupados están siendo víctimas de crímenes atroces, persecución, apartheid y de genocidio”.
Al cumplirse 50 días (el 20 de abril de 2025) de asedio israelí a la Franja de Gaza, la Agencia de la ONU para los Refugiados Palestinos (UNRWA) denunció una vez más este martes el castigo colectivo que sufren los más de 2,1 millones de personas que viven en ese territorio sin comida, agua limpia, medicamentos y otros bienes vitales. “El hambre provocada por el hombre se está propagando y empeorando deliberadamente”, afirmó el comisionado general de UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, quien categorizó a Gaza como una “tierra de desesperación”. En una publicación en X, Lazzarini condenó nuevamente el bloqueo israelí a la entrada de ayuda a Gaza, adonde no ha llegado ni un gramo de alimentos desde principios de marzo. Famine assessment under way in Gaza The world’s hunger watchdog, known as the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system, has begun an analysis of the lack of food and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip. The assessment began on April 28 and will last one week, according to the UN’s humanitarian agency (OCHA). More than 50 trained analysts from UN agencies and aid groups, both from the Gaza Strip and from abroad, are taking part in the exercise, it said. The assessment comes as aid agencies warn that Gaza is on the verge of famine with Israel’s total blockade of the Strip entering its 60th day. This siege is the longest such closure the Gaza Strip has ever faced. The IPC had issued at least four warnings since Israel’s war on Gaza began, saying the territory could be teetering on the precipice of famine.
Gaza edges closer to famine as Israel’s total blockade nears its third month
Sitting inside her fly-infested tent in Gaza City, Iman Rajab sifts clumps of flour through a sieve, over and over again. She found the half-bag of flour in a garbage dumpster. It is crawling with pests and shows clear signs of contamination. But it’s still Rajab’s best hope for keeping her six children fed and alive. So she sifts the flour once more to make bread. “My kids are vomiting after they eat it. It smells horrible,” Rajab says of the bread it produces. “But what else can I do? What will I feed my children if not this?” She is one of hundreds of thousands of parents in Gaza struggling to feed their children as the war-torn Palestinian enclave barrels towards full-blown and entirely man-made famine.
UN runs out of food in Gaza two months after Israel’s total blockade For nearly two months, Israel has carried out a total siege of Gaza, refusing to allow in a single truck of humanitarian aid or commercial goods – the longest period Israel has imposed such a total blockade. Israel says it cut off the entry of humanitarian aid to pressure Hamas to release hostages.
But international organizations say its actions violate international law, with some accusing Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war – a war crime. The impact is clear: The World Food Programme (WFP) announced this week that its warehouses are now barren; the soup kitchens that are still running are severely rationing their last stocks; and what little food remains in Gaza’s markets is now being sold for exorbitant prices that most cannot afford.
A simple bag of flour now costs the equivalent of $100, several people told CNN. Cases of acute child malnutrition are also rapidly rising, one of the telltale signs of impending famine. Nearly 3,700 children were diagnosed last month, an 82% increase from February, according to the United Nations.
