En Abril de 2024, artistas de Gaza se unieron en un proyecto para encontrar maneras de utilizar el arte como herramienta de resistencia ante el genocidio. Creando trabajos que nos recuerdan que el arte es esencial para la vida y la supervivencia. Este proyecto colectivo emergió en un evento global de arte, La Bienal de Gaza.

 

A través de la Bienal de Gaza se muestran las obras y voces de más de 40 artistas palestinos en 12 pabellones: Berlin, Edimburgo, Londres, Padua, SudÁfrica, Valencia, Dinamarca, Istambul, Nueva York, Sarajevo, Toronto y Washington.

En Valencia, puedes visitar parte de la obra en la Galeria de Arte “The Grapa

Gallery” ,en el Barrio de Russafa, del 20 de Junio al 30 de Septiembre. Recomendable y necesaria.

 

“Esta exposición nos invita a ver Gaza no como una abstracción de la guerra, sino como un lugar de gente, cultura e imaginación. De este modo, afirma el poder perdurable del arte para cruzar fronteras, transmitir memoria y conectarnos en nuestra humanidad compartida. La exposición presenta obras de los artistas Hamada El Kept, Jehad Jarbou, Liza Madi, Aya Juha, Hazem Al-Zomor, Ahmad Adawi y Osama Naqqa Hussein. La exposición está comisariada por Verónica Revuelta Garrido, Salma Alhakim y Larissa-Diana Fuhrmann”

Presentación de la Bienal de Gaza

Anunciamos desde aquí, desde la tierra de Gaza, el lanzamiento de la Bienal de Gaza, con la participación de más de 40 artistas, para afirmar que el arte palestino atraviesa todos los espacios ocupados.

 

La guerra no puede detener los sueños de los soñadores, y ningún mecanismo de dominación puede extinguir la luz en los corazones y mentes de los creadores. En nombre de todos los artistas participantes, incluyendo a aquellos que, debido a la guerra y la división geográfica, no pueden acompañarnos físicamente, afirmamos lo siguiente:

 

1. A través del arte, resistimos toda forma de genocidio y opresión.

2. Seguimos dando y creando, a pesar de todos los obstáculos y desafíos.

3. A través del arte, trascendemos barreras, asegurando que las voces de los artistas palestinos lleguen al mundo, reafirmando el derecho de los palestinos a hablar y ser escuchados.

4. La Bienal representa el punto de partida para el trabajo artístico colectivo, uniendo a muchas partes e instituciones que creen en la justicia de nuestra causa y en el poder del arte.

5. La Bienal surgió a pesar de la dispersión, el desplazamiento y el sufrimiento padecido por los artistas, reuniéndonos para satisfacer una necesidad - de creación, dignidad y propósito- , presentamos una visión de un futuro mejor.

 

Esta Bienal es un llamado al mundo, a los artistas y a las instituciones culturales, a solidarizarse con los artistas palestinos, apoyarlos y trabajar juntos para garantizar que sus voces e historias sigan presentes, y que sus obras sigan siendo un testimonio de lucha y resiliencia, iluminando un camino para la humanidad en los tiempos más terribles.

 

Hay mucho por hacer, y esta bienal es sólo el comienzo, ya que Gaza seguirá comenzando una y otra vez, así como la humanidad y el arte son un renacimiento perpetuo

In April 2024, artists from Gaza joined in a project to find ways to use art as a tool of resistance in the face of genocide. They created works that remind us that art is essential for life and survival. This collective project emerged as a global art event, the Gaza Biennial.

 

The Gaza Biennial showcases the works and voices of more than 40 Palestinian artists in 12 pavilions: Berlin, Edinburgh, London, Padua, South Africa, Valencia, Denmark, Istanbul, New York, Sarajevo, Toronto, and Washington.

Presentation of the Gaza Biennial

We hereby announce from here, from the land of Gaza, the launch of the Gaza Biennale, with the participation of over 40 artists, to affirm that Palestinian art pierces through all besieged spaces.

 

No war can stop the dreams of dreamers, and no mechanisms of domination extinguish the light in the hearts and minds of creators. On behalf of all the participating artists, including those who, due to war and geographical division, are unable to join us physically, we affirm the following:

1. Through art, we resist all forms of genocide and oppression.

2. We continue to give and create, despite all obstacles and challenges.

3. Through art, we transcend barriers, ensuring that the voices of Palestinian artists

reach the world, reaffirming Palestinians’ right to speak and be heard.

4. The Biennale represents the starting point for collective artistic work, uniting

many parties and institutions that believe in the justice of our cause and the

power of art.

5. The Biennale emerged despite dispersion, displacement, and suffering endured by artists, gathering to fill a need—for invention, dignity and purpose, we present a

vision for a better future.

 

This Biennale is a call to the world, to artists and cultural institutions, to stand in solidarity with Palestinian artists, support them, and work together to ensure that their voices and stories remain present, and that their works remain a testament to struggle and resilience, lighting a path for humanity in the most dire times.

 

There is much to accomplish, and this biennale is only the beginning, as Gaza will continue to begin again and again, just as humanity and art is a perpetual rebirth.
