Macklemore lanza su nueva canción de protesta, ‘Fucked Up’ El sencillo denuncia las acciones de Donald Trump, Elon Musk, el genocidio en Palestina y más.

Luego del estreno de ‘Hind’s Hall’ y ‘Hind’s Hall 2’, Macklemore está de regreso con una nueva canción de protesta, ‘Fucked Up’. El sencillo abarca temas desde los incendios en Los Ángeles, hasta las órdenes ejecutivas de Donald Trump, el presunto saludo nazi de Elon Musk y el genocidio en Palestina. 

El video oficial del tema abre con poderosas imágenes de protestas pro-Palestina, incluyendo el acto durante el show de medio tiempo de Kendrick Lamar en el Super Bowl, que llevó a un bailarín a ser detenido y vetado de todos los eventos futuros de la NFL. “El mundo está en llamas, no somos dueños del agua, amigos (‘Los Resnick sí’, lee el video mostrando a los multimillonarios Stewart y Lynda Resnick)/Prisioneros contratados por unos pocos dólares, amigos”, canta Macklemore sobre tomas que muestran los recientes incendios devastadores en Los Ángeles.

“Finalmente veo a la oligarquía y a los hombres que nos controlan a todos (Imágenes rápidas muestran a Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk y Donald Trump)/Exenciones fiscales para la élite y luego los impuestos son para ustedes”, continúa.

En sus versos, Macklemore también denuncia el financiamiento del genocidio en Gaza por parte de Estados Unidos: “¿Cómo crees que Israel obtiene dinero para los mejores tanques?/Y Netanyahu ama a Trump, él dice: ‘Sí, gracias’/Ese es tu dinero, y sí, todo está conectado”. También, acusa a las redes sociales de censurar contenido, después de que Meta fuera señalada por bloquear publicaciones relacionadas con Palestina: “Están controlando tu feed, la información que censuran/Bloqueando hashtags, no se puede decir ‘Liberen Palestina’”.

Todos los ingresos de la canción serán destinados a UNRWA USA, una agencia de la ONU que apoya la asistencia y el desarrollo humano de los refugiados palestinos.

And later he says:

Billionaire oligarchs—whose social existence blocks any chance of progress and in fact requires fascistic retrogression—feature front-and-center in “F—-ed Up.” Stewart and Lynda Resnick get a visual jab as owners of a majority stake in the massive Kern Water Bank in California. Images of Facebook mogul and Trump backer Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos fill the montage-like wanted posters.

Musk fully deserves the refrain—with his infamous inaugural Nazi salute as a background: 

And Elon, we know exactly what that was, bro.

With a militant, almost marching beat, “F—-ed Up” strikes a powerful chord. One doesn’t have to agree with Macklemore’s gratuitous use of obscenities or the obligatory and inappropriate reference to “white supremacy”—what does that have to do with the American capitalist elite, which is lined up against every section of the working class, black, white, Latino and immigrant?—to appreciate the straightforward rhymes and generally crystal-clear message. Macklemore deserves commendation and support. His courageous stance in support of the Palestinians has already cost him cancellations and threatens his future as an entertainer.

With the possible exception of Roger Waters and a handful of others, no established figure has taken so bold a stance in opposition to the genocide and the far-right turn of official politics.
