Nora Alshaikh is a contemporary Palestinian artist based in Orlando, Florida, working in large-scale oil painting at the intersection of cultural memory, figuration, and abstraction. Her work maps the persistence of Palestinian cultural fragments — tatreez, Arab architectural traces, and native Levantine flora — within layered, eroded surfaces, constructing a visual space where memory is carried through the body and across generations.

Born in Amman, Jordan, to Palestinian parents, Alshaikh grew up between two landscapes that share a palette, a texture, and a sense of inherited place. When she relocated to the United States in 2021, that distance sharpened everything — unable to fully arrive here or return there, she found herself suspended between worlds, painting not from a place but from the space between places.

Her work has been exhibited nationally at The Other Art Fair Chicago and Los Angeles, and locally at CityArts Orlando and the Mount Dora Fine Arts Festival. She was recognized with the Award of Honor at ArtWorks Fine Art Festival, Melbourne, FL, and her work has been featured in a Saatchi Art's Collection.

Palestinian architecture has been shaped by the country's landscape, climate, and local craftsmanship. Limestone homes, arched doorways, domed roofs, and interior courtyards define many of the region's towns and villages, creating spaces designed for daily life and community.

In her paintings, Nora Alshaikh incorporates these architectural forms into layered compositions that draw on Palestine's built heritage. Her work invites viewers to see architecture as a vital expression of culture and place.

Nora Alshaikh es una artista palestina contemporánea radicada en Orlando, Florida, que trabaja con pintura al óleo de gran formato en la intersección de la memoria cultural, la figuración y la abstracción.

 

Su obra plasma la persistencia de fragmentos culturales palestinos —tatreez, vestigios arquitectónicos árabes y flora autóctona levantina— en superficies estratificadas y erosionadas, construyendo un espacio visual donde la memoria se transmite a través del cuerpo y de generación en generación.

 

Nacida en Amán, Jordania, de padres palestinos, Alshaikh creció entre dos paisajes que comparten una paleta, una textura y un sentido de pertenencia heredada. Cuando se mudó a Estados Unidos en 2021, esa distancia agudizó su perspectiva: incapaz de llegar completamente a un lugar o regresar a otro, se encontró suspendida entre mundos, pintando no desde un lugar, sino desde el espacio entre lugares.

 

Su obra se ha exhibido a nivel nacional en The Other Art Fair Chicago y Los Ángeles, y a nivel local en CityArts Orlando y el Festival de Bellas Artes de Mount Dora. Fue galardonada con el Premio de Honor en el Festival de Bellas Artes ArtWorks de Melbourne, Florida, y su obra forma parte de la colección de Saatchi Arts.

 

La arquitectura palestina se ha visto influenciada por el paisaje, el clima y la artesanía local. Casas de piedra caliza, arcos, cúpulas y patios interiores caracterizan muchos pueblos y aldeas de la región, creando espacios diseñados para la vida cotidiana y la convivencia.

 

En sus pinturas, Nora Alshaikh incorpora estas formas arquitectónicas en composiciones superpuestas que se inspiran en el patrimonio arquitectónico de Palestina. Su obra invita al espectador a contemplar la arquitectura como una expresión vital de la cultura y el lugar.
