En medio de su actuación en España, el cantante puertorriqueño René Pérez Joglar, conocido como Residente, volvió a poner el foco sobre la causa palestina. Esta vez lo hizo desde el escenario del Pirata Festival en Gandía, Valencia, que tuvo lugar entre el 9 y 12 de julio y donde miles de personas corearon junto a él un mensaje contundente: “¡Palestina vencerá!”.

El acto se convirtió en un momento vibrante de resistencia cultural y posicionamiento político en plena Europa.

La ovación fue el cierre de una actuación marcada por banderas palestinas ondeando entre el público, en lo que el propio artista calificó como la manifestación más grande de solidaridad con Palestina que ha visto en un concierto. Las imágenes del evento circularon rápidamente en redes sociales, generando un fuerte eco en medios alternativos y cuentas de apoyo a la causa palestina.

On Sunday, Puerto Rican singer Rene Perez Joglar, known as Residente, once again brought attention to the Palestinian cause on the international stage. “Palestine to overcome!” he shouted alongside thousands of attendees at the Pirata Festival in Gandia, Valencia, held from July 9 to 12

“The Palestinian struggle is one of the most human struggles of our time. Please, let’s stop comparing our misfortunes with what Palestine is experiencing. I know Latin America is suffering, but what’s happening in Palestine is something else: thousands of families are being gunned down before our eyes,” Residente wrote on Instagram.  

“I also know that some of my fellow artists are afraid to speak out for fear of losing sponsorship and followers, or being attacked on social media. But none of that is more important than a human life. Let’s defend life,” he added.  “Every complaint, every post, every mention about what’s happening in Gaza exerts pressure. Thank you, Valencia! Thank you for always maintaining that fighting spirit necessary to build a better world. Palestine will overcome!”

Wawing Palestinian flags, the audience at Puerto Rican artist Residente's concert in Valencia began chanting "Free Palestine" while the singer clapped along.    Known for his pro-Palestine stance, the rapper recently cancelled two of his performances in Spain after finding out the festivals hosting him were sponsored by companies tied to Israeli human rights abuses in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.
