El genocidio es guerra a su enésima potencia, deshumanización total. Genocide is war taken to its extreme, total dehumanization.

La guerra es brutalidad y deshumanización, también asesinato infantil.

En la mayoría de las guerras, los niños representan una ínfima parte de las víctimas mortales. El uno por ciento. Quizás un poco más en las peores condiciones. Esa es la trágica tasa de mortalidad infantil en los conflictos humanos.
Pero cuando esa cifra se dispara al treinta por ciento, ya no se trata de daños colaterales. Se trata de algo completamente distinto. Se trata de la intención manifiesta.
En Gaza como en Darfur, Myanmar, etc.

War is brutality and dehumanization. 
Also the killing of children.
Genocide is war taken to its extreme, total dehumanization.

In most wars, children make up a sliver of the dead. One percent. Maybe a few more in the worst conditions. That’s the tragic background rate of human conflict.

But when that number explodes to thirty percent, you are no longer looking at collateral damage. You are looking at something else entirely.

You are looking at intent made visible.

In Gaza, as in Darfur, Myanmar, etc.

A thirty percent pediatric death rate is not a statistic.

It is a vital sign.
