Health Workers For Palestine Spain denuncia la expulsión de tres residentes de psiquiatría holandeses asistentes al 33º Congreso Europeo de Psiquiatría (EPA 2025) que se celebra en Madrid del 5 al 8 de abril y cuenta con patrocinadores industriales (entre los “platino”, los más generosos, Teva, el mayor productor de genéricos del mundo)

El hecho sucedió durante una sesión patrocinada por la industria farmacéutica TEVA, el sábado 6 de abril sobre “Through the looking glass: Tardive dyskinesia in the age of modern psychiatry”, cuando el grupo de médicos residentes holandeses distribuyó pacíficamente folletos en los que se explicaban la contribución de dicha industria al régimen colonial israelí y al genocidio que está llevando a cabo en Palestina.

Teva, empresa israelí, genera millones de ingresos anuales que contribuyen al régimen militar y colonial de Israel, financiando el genocidio y el apartheid. Además, limita el suministro de medicamentos en Palestina, contribuyendo así al empeoramiento de la salud del pueblo palestino. TEVA también disfruta del acceso total al mercado cautivo tanto en Cisjordania como en Gaza, donde las empresas farmacéuticas palestinas no pueden operar a causa de las restricciones legales del régimen de apartheid israelí. Además, está implicado en varios casos de corrupción. Teva es una empresa farmacéutica que ha tenido juicios varios y cuantiosas multas por sus práctica corruptoras con médicos.

Esta expulsión de la sala donde se impartía la sesión y también del Congreso, constituye un ataque directo y grave a la libertad de expresión de profesionales de la sanidad comprometidos con la paz y la solidaridad, con un sistema sanitario libre de corrupción. Estas personas informaban de forma pacífica y justificada, dado la complicidad que comporta que una empresa que participa activamente en un genocidio en curso sea patrocinadora de un espacio de formación, en este caso un congreso europeo de psiquiatria.

El boicot y la denuncia son herramientas legítimas que podemos y debemos aplicar ante la ocupación, el apartheid y el genocidio palestino por Israel.

Health Workers For Palestine Spain denounces the expulsion of three Dutch psychiatry residents attending the 33rd European Congress of Psychiatry (EPA 2025), which is being held in Madrid from April 5 to 8 and is sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry (among the "platinum" sponsors, the most generous, is Teva, the world's largest generic drug producer).

The incident occurred during a session sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry TEVA on Saturday, April 6, on "Through the Looking Glass: Tardive Dyskinesia in the Age of Modern Psychiatry," when the group of Dutch medical residents peacefully distributed leaflets explaining the industry's contribution to the Israeli colonial regime and the genocide it is carrying out in Palestine.

Teva, an Israeli company, generates millions in annual revenue that contribute to Israel's military and colonial regime, financing genocide and apartheid. Furthermore, it limits the supply of medicines in Palestine, thus contributing to the deteriorating health of the Palestinian people. TEVA also enjoys full access to the captive market in both the West Bank and Gaza, where Palestinian pharmaceutical companies cannot operate due to legal restrictions imposed by the Israeli apartheid regime. Furthermore, it is implicated in several corruption cases. Teva is a pharmaceutical company that has faced several lawsuits and hefty fines for its corrupt practices with doctors.

This expulsion from the room where the session was held and also from the Congress constitutes a direct and serious attack on the freedom of expression of health workers committed to peace and solidarity, and to a corruption-free healthcare system. These persons were reporting peacefully (see the video) and with justification, given the complicity that comes with a company actively participating in an ongoing genocide sponsoring a training event, in this case a European psychiatry conference.

Boycotting and reporting are legitimate tools that we can and should apply in the face of Israel's occupation, apartheid, and Palestinian genocide.
