Update 12 April 2026
Sexual violence against Palestinians in Israeli prisons and detention centres constitutes a de facto state policy, used as a tool of subjugation and destruction, with a sharp escalation and the removal of prior restraints since 7 October 2023, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said in a report.
The new report, titled “Another genocide behind walls”, documents widespread patterns of sexual violence, including rape, against detainees from the Gaza Strip, describing it as a tool of destruction aimed at breaking individual and collective will and inflicting severe physical and psychological harm. The report cites direct sexual assault, assault with objects, and torture targeting the genitals, as well as organised practices such as filming and the presence of multiple security personnel during assaults, which reinforces evidence of the institutional and systematic nature of these crimes.
These violations intersect with detention policies that inflict severe, lasting physical and psychological harm, including injuries that cause permanent disability and, in some cases, impair reproductive function.
The report relied primarily on live testimonies from Palestinian former detainees from the Gaza Strip who were released by Israeli forces in recent weeks and months and who reported being subjected to various forms of systematic sexual violence.
Update 16 March 2026
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz met with masked soldiers accused of sexually assaulting Palestinian prisoners and apologized to them, saying, "I apologize for the psychological damage caused to you by the military system." He also issued a resolution to reinstate them to service in the army.

It's not "the anecdote", it's "the category".
Sde Teiman Case Collapses: Military Advocate General Drops All Charges Against Force 100 Soldiers. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the Military Advocate General (MAG) has decided to drop all charges against the five defendants in the Sde Teiman case, citing "significant developments" that have occurred since the original filing.
The MAG cancels indictments against five soldiers due to "unprecedented" procedural failures and evidentiary gaps.
Closing the investigation into crimes at Sde Teiman detention center is seen as an attempt to cover up torture and sexual abuse. The decision reflects complicity and reinforces impunity.
The documented abuses violate international law and the Geneva Conventions.
Closing the case despite video evidence sets a dangerous precedent.
The violations are described as systematic, not isolated incidents.
We, the Palestinian Center for Prisoners' Advocacy, call for an independent international investigation and accountability.

“You are stripped of all your clothes. All
of them. You are asked to be in a position
where you expose your sensitive areas.
And they mess with them. They mess
with your genitals. The magnetometer
device, that they use to search your body,
he wants to put it inside you, while you’re
naked. Imagine that they try to put a
magnetometer in your behind. And they
start with the verbal harassment. For
example, he asked me a question, “Do
you have haemorrhoids?” I told him no.
He said, “We will give you haemorrhoids.”

1.-Zionism as Rape Culture
Zionism is inherently imbued with rape culture.
Zionism is predicated on the non-consensual
pillaging, conquest, and desecration of Palestinian
and Arab land, the forced imposition of Jewish
settlers on Palestinian communities, and the exertion
of Zionist control over Palestinian bodies.
Given Zionist ideology is concerned primarily with
desecration at its core, it is perhaps unsurprising that
Zionists have used rape since their initial terrorist
attacks in Palestine in 1947, when Zionist terror
groups, such as the Hagenah, raped and mutilated
Palestinian women as part of the Nakba.
As part of this rapist ideology, Zionists also support
the rape of non-Jewish people in order to further
Zionism’s goals. For example, Rabbi Karim –
who was appointed the chief rabbi of the Israeli
occupation forces (IOF) in 2016 – condoned rape “in
times of war”, as long as the victims were non-Jewish
women.
Moreover, protests erupted against the prosecution of
nine Israeli torturers who had raped Palestinians held
hostage in Israeli torture chambers.
Indeed, a poll revealed that most Israelis (65% of Israelies Jews) believe that
Israeli torturers who rape Palestinians should not be
prosecuted.
When asked by Ahmad Tibi, one of the Arab MPs
within the Israeli Knesset if it was legitimate “to
insert a stick into a person’s rectum”, Hanoch
Milwidsky, a member of Prime Minister Benyamin
Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party, responded: “If he is a
Nukhba [Hamas militant], everything is legitimate to
do! Everything!”
