The undersigned are part of the group Health Workers For Palestine, Spain (HW4PS (1). Therefore, we participate in campaigns and initiatives aimed at stopping the massacre in Palestine, repairing the personal and material damages to the fullest extent possible, bringing the perpetrators to justice, and returning land and property to their rightful owners.

Currently (second half of 2025), we are actively campaigning for the exclusion of Israeli medical associations from international medical associations. (2, 3). Therefore, we have occasionally interacted with Zionist doctors, and these are some of their arguments defending and justifying Israel's barbarism (listed in chronological order, not by importance) and our responses:

1. The Israel Medical Association (IMA) has called for measures to ensure healthcare in Gaza and to prevent harm to civilian personnel. (4) Yes, indeed, a gentle wake-up call at the end of July 2025 (although in reality the destruction and genocide began in 1948 with Israel's illegal and terrorist declaration of independence; in Gaza, the more intense and persistent slaughter began on October 8, 2023). It should be noted that the IMA's statement was a response to the British Medical Association's severance of relations in early July 2025, which also called on the World Medical Association to expel the IMA from its membership. (5) The IMA's mild statement is a bit of a justification for the collaborator who wants to take his word for it.

2. There are Israeli Jewish doctors who have spoken out against Israeli atrocities, even denouncing torture in Israeli prisons. (6, 7) Yes, there are Israeli Jewish doctors who defy pressure not to report and, for example, dare to document aberrant and ongoing practices against Palestinian "prisoners" (hostages, if we're being more specific), around 10,000 in Israeli prisons. Their testimony is impressive, but it does not change either general Israeli policies or those of Israeli medical societies.

3. Some family doctors belonging to the Israel Association of Family Physicians (IAFP) sincerely seek peace; breaking ties with the IAFP is a collective punishment that we must avoid. The IAFP has maintained and maintains a silence that condones the genocide and Israeli destructive policies throughout Palestine, including Gaza and the West Bank. Furthermore, the IAFP continues its activities as if nothing is happening "next door," similar to the German family in the film "The Zone of Interest." "Dissenters" from the IAFP's political line of silence and tolerance are a minority, and international rejection will only strengthen them. In the isolation of apartheid South Africa, all international ties with medical societies were severed, and the triumph of reason was achieved, as we hope will be the case with Israel.

4. Israel is the only democracy in West Asia (the Middle East from a "Western" perspective). His Prime Minister, Netanyahu, enjoys the disapproval of 70% of the population. (8) Yes, Israel's prime minister, a far-right government, is "using" Palestine to stay in power and is unlikely to be re-elected in 2026, even facing the possibility of being tried and convicted for corruption. But the problem is the Zionism of the Israeli Jewish population, as polls show. A March 2025 survey of Israeli Jews, published in Haaretz, showed that 82 percent of respondents supported the forced expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, while 56 percent supported the expulsion of Palestinian citizens of Israel. (9) A survey by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in early June 2025 yielded a similar Zionist statistic: an overwhelming majority (75%) of Israeli Jews agree with the idea that "there are no innocent people in Gaza." (10) In the July 2025 Peace Index survey, a question was included that read: "Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz proposed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) relocate all residents of the Gaza Strip to a closed camp that Israel would establish in the Rafah area, allowing them to leave it only to go to
other countries. To what extent do you support or oppose this proposal?" 63% of Israeli Jews supported this proposal (11).

5. As a democracy, Israel treats all its population equally and non-Jews have full citizenship rights. False, as various studies have shown, including one by Amnesty International three years ago. In Israel, there is intense apartheid: "In 2022, 74 years will have passed since the mass expulsion and displacement of more than 700,000 Palestinians from their homes, villages, and towns during the conflict that led to the creation of Israel in 1948. The Nakba (catastrophe), as the Palestinian population calls it in Arabic, is etched in the Palestinian collective consciousness as a story of relentless dispossession. Amnesty International's new research shows that Israel imposes a system of oppression and domination on the Palestinian population in all areas under its control—in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem) and on Palestinian refugees—in order to benefit the Jewish Israeli population. This constitutes apartheid and is prohibited by international law. Laws, policies, and practices designed to maintain a cruel system of control over the Palestinian population have left them geographically and politically fragmented, often impoverished, and in a permanent state of fear and insecurity. (12) Adalah, an NGO that defends the rights of Arabs in Israel, has compiled a database that includes more than 65 laws that it considers discriminatory towards Palestinians. (13)

6. International medical societies must be neutral, represent everyone, be humanistic and tolerant, have no political ideology, and promote the ethical and professional principles of medicine. Yes, but neutrality cannot be equated with inaction in the face of ethical, moral, and professional violations such as those of Israeli medical associations, which uncritically tolerate Israel's genocidal actions, including the daily bombing of defenseless populations and the siege and death from hunger and thirst of more than two million people in Gaza. Silence is also ideology. And "doing nothing" is always a political decision, and even more so when they are politically motivated. Colleagues and their families are suffering the punishment of death, imprisonment, and torture most intensely. To promote the ethical and professional principles of medicine, we must demand their compliance.

7. There are other atrocities, in Gaza itself and in other countries around the world, against general populations and various minorities. Why this insistence on Israel? In the 21st century, there is not, and has never been, anything similar to what Israel is carrying out against the Palestinian people. Israel is a colonial power whose policy is based on the expulsion and extermination of the indigenous population, and on the theft of land, goods, and property. There is nothing similar in the world today, not in the death and disability of children, nor in the destruction of buildings and resources, nor in the harm to women (including throughout the reproductive process), nor in any other aspect of extreme cruelty. Israel is a danger to humanity and to international law. We will not be free until Palestine is free.

8. By calling for Israel's exclusion, you are empowering Hamas terrorism. False; Hamas democratically won the elections in Gaza14 and is, therefore, a political actor as an organization that has managed its territory (15). The victory in the multi-party Palestinian general elections was clean and endorsed by international observers. Hamas's victory was by an absolute majority. Hamas is not a terrorist organization (it has never been classified as such by the UN, for example) (16) but is currently part of the legitimate Palestinian Resistance against the colonial power of Israel, along with other organizations such as Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and Ansar Allah (17). Of course, in France occupied by Nazi Germany, the Resistance was classified as a terrorist organization by the authorities imposed by the invaders, but that is merely a propaganda exercise. On the contrary, Israel must be considered a terrorist organization, since Zionism has a centuries-old history of criminal attacks and persistent illegalities (18). In Palestine, there is no air defense, no tanks, no missiles, no sirens, no planes, no drones, no artillery... It is not a war. There is only an incredible guerrilla movement. of national liberation against the colonizing entity: the Palestinian Resistance (which the Israeli Army is unable to defeat).

9. What must be achieved is the "two-state solution," with recognition of the independence and borders of Israel and Palestine. The two-state solution in Palestine is colonial, unjust, useless, and unworkable. It is as if, in India in 1947, independence had been achieved by dividing the subcontinent in two parts, half India and half the United Kingdom. “Although different actors use different religions as legitimizing and mobilizing elements, this is not a religious problem. It is a contemporary political and colonial issue that began in the late 19th century, when the Zionist movement, a form of settler colonialism, emerged in Europe (and with a Eurocentric racist mentality). The main objective of the heterogeneous variants of settler colonialism is the establishment by states or settler groups—mainly European, but not exclusively—of their own colonial society or homeland by segregating, displacing, and eliminating the native population, or most of it.” (19) The “two-state solution” is absurd; what is required is complete sovereignty over Palestine and allowing Israeli Jews to pack up and return to their countries of origin (for example, after being tried, Netanyahu is to serve a prison sentence in Poland).

10. Such a position against Israeli medical societies borders on antisemitism. Spain also has a history of massacres of indigenous peoples in the Americas and brutal persecution of Jews during the Inquisition. Would Spain be called for expulsion from the international healthcare world today for this? When, in a calm debate about Israel, one side is accused of antisemitism, the accuser admits they have lost the debate. Furthermore, using such a term leads us to notions of racism that are intended to be conflated with religion when what we are talking about is Zionism, a fascist political ideology. Semites are not only the Jews settled in historic Palestine; Palestinians are also Semites. In any case, we are dealing with a problem of the 20th and 21st centuries, so the historical argument is fallacious and adds nothing to the debate. The aim is to stigmatize as "anti-Semitic" anyone who criticizes Israel, including, of course, anti-Zionist Jewish organizations such as Jewish Voice for Peace, with more than 32,000 members, the world's largest association of Jews in solidarity with Palestinians (20).

CONCLUSION
It's incredible how quickly Zionist doctors jump from the concrete to the general in order to put an end to anti-Semitism. It's important to redirect the conversation back to the core issue: the complicit silence of Israeli medical societies and the need to establish an international boycott against apartheid in Israel.
