“Dareen Tatour has been convicted for doing what writers do every day – we use our words to peacefully challenge injustice.” PEN International strongly condemns the decision of the Nazareth Magistrate's Court to convict Palestinian poet Dareen Tatour of ‘support for a terrorist organization’ and ‘incitement to violence’. The conviction is mainly related to a YouTube video in which she recites one of her poems entitled, ‘Qawim ya sha’abi, qawimhum (Resist, my people, resist them).’

Dareen Tatour was released from prison in Israel on  20 September 2018.  "After three years of suffering, imprisonment & house arrest, I finally feel happy. I have gained my freedom and I will continue to write. All my suffering was due to a poem I wrote and it saddens me that they (Israeli authorities) imprisoned me for writing the poem".

Resist, my people, resist them.
In Jerusalem, I dressed my wounds and breathed my sorrows to God.
I carried the soul in my palm
for an Arab Palestine.
I will not succumb to the ‘peaceful solution’,
never lower my flags
until I evict them from my homeland
and make them kneel for a time to come.
Resist, my people, resist them.
Resist the settler’s robbery
and follow the caravan of martyrs.
Shred the disgraceful constitution
that has imposed relentless humiliation
and stopped us from restoring our rights.
They burned blameless children;
As for Hadeel, they sniped her in public,
killed her in broad daylight.
Resist, my people, resist them.
Resist the colonialist’s onslaught.
Pay no mind to his agents among us
who shackle us with illusions of peace.
Do not fear the Merkava [Israeli army tanks];
the truth in your heart is stronger,
as long as you resist in a land
that has lived through raids and victory.
Ali called from his grave:
resist, my rebellious people,
write me as prose on the agarwood,
for you have become the answer to my remains.
Resist, my people, resist them.

En 2015, la poetisa palestina Dareen Tatour escribió Qawim ya sha’abi, qawimhum [Resiste, pueblo mío, resísteles], por el que fue detenida y encarcelada por Israel. Un poema que puede condenarte a prisión es un poema poderoso. Un Estado amenazado por un poema es un Estado inmoral.

Resiste, pueblo mío, resísteles.
En Jerusalén vendé mis heridas,
y comuniqué mis preocupaciones a Dios
Llevé el alma en mis palmas
por el bien de la Palestina árabe.
No me conformaré con una «solución pacífica»,
nunca arriaré mi bandera
hasta expulsarlos de mi patria,
y hacerlos arrodillarse por un tiempo.
Resisteles, pueblo mío, resísteles.
Resiste a la ambición de los colonos
y sigue al convoy de los mártires.
Destroza la constitución de la vergüenza,
que ha impuesto la humillación implacable
que impide la restitución de nuestros derechos.

Resisteles, pueblo mío, resísteles.
Quemaron a niños inocentes.
Acribillaron a Hadeel en público,
La mataron a plena luz del día.
¡Resiste, pueblo mío, resiste!
Resiste a la escoria colonialista
No escuches a los lacayos,
nos encadenan a la ilusión pacífica.
No temas a las lenguas de Merkava.
La verdad es más fuerte en tu corazón
mientras resistas en una patria
que ha sobrevivido a las batallas y nunca se ha rendido.

y escríbeme como prosa en la madera de agar.
